Our new lawnmower

Jaron has been given the responsibility of mowing the lawn each week. He does a great job. Our lawnmower is getting older but still works so it's hard to justify getting a new one. Well, some of his friends have 'riding lawnmowers'. He has really been wanting us to get one. Richard decided that since Jaron does so well in school and always gets his chores done on time that a riding lawn mower would help him get the yard work done quicker so he would have more time for the chores inside the house. SO, being the handy sort of guy that Richard is, he made him a riding lawn mower. I guess we thought Jaron would be so excited or do something to atleast show his appreciation. To this day we have never been able to understand why teenagers are so hard to please.

A wonderful Lady

Today I was able to attend another funeral. It was the funeral of Jamie Sue, a great lady! I did not know her well but felt the desire to go. I knew her from the water aerobics class we took at the same gym. I knew she was a real go-getter but had no idea of all the good she has done in the world. She was very talented at writing poetry & song-writing. Two of the songs sung at her funeral she had actually written. One was titled 'The Proclamation' and the other was 'Mother, Do you know?' They were both just beautiful and I was amazed at her talents. The testimony that she shares through the music she wrote is a legacy that she has left to all who hear it. The lessons in life that I learned from attending this funeral today have made an impact on me for good. I want to do better because of her. Thank you Jamie Sue for living such a valiant life and sharing your testimony of the Savior with me.

Happy Birthday Savannah

This is my sweet niece Savannah (Todd's) who is having a birthday today. We wanted to send some great big happy birthday wishes her way. This is one of the cutest, funniest, sweetest girls out there. We went to Mexico for Fall Break last year and she came as well. Here's what we did one evening and she joined right in on the fun.
She loves the beach and loves to collect seashells. LL & I walked with her for miles collecting seashells. She found the most interesting and unusual items and wanted to take them all home of course.
Here she is holding up the sun. She is actually just like a ray of sunshine. Bright & cheerful, bringing light to all who see her.

This was a time when she stayed the night at our house. The kids were having some jumping fun and again she just joined right in. You can tell she has been raised around a bunch of brothers. She is definately a girl though, she loves to do hair & write notes & wears the cutest clothes. We sure do love this sweet thing. Happy Birthday Savannah!!!!

Dinner Party

I have been taking dinner in to my grandparents once a week and lately it's been on Sunday. Well today we decided to bring them to our house and we invited my parents as well. We had hawaiian haystacks and homemade ice cream. It was a delightful time. It is so hard for me to catch a picture of Richard not making one of his silly faces. As you can see I did not succeed tonight or maybe I did. (lol)
Grandpa has a special corner of his heart reserved just for Camdon. He sure gets a kick out of him. After dinner we all came in to visit. After my grandpa had been here for about an hour he said to grandma "This is a real nice cafe to have a room like this for all of us to sit around and visit". My grandma just chuckled and said very nicely, "Carl, this is Marcy's house and we had dinner in her dining room, this is not a cafe." He is such a sweet, sweet man. His memory is just not what it used to be. My grandma is very loving to him and it's sweet to watch.

Road Trip

I just recently returned from a road trip to Utah. There were 7 of us who traveled together to attend the funeral of Tiffani's (my sister in law) Mother who passed away after a long battle with cancer. She was so young, only 53. I am so glad that I went and was deeply enriched by attending. I enjoy funerals simply for the reason that you get to hear all kinds of interesting facts about them. Plus the spirit is always so strong and I love to feel that. Tiffani is the oldest and here she is below with her two sisters. They also have a brother who is not pictured here.
Torrin & Tatum

This was a very amusing part of the trip. Tiffani's dad has quite a bit of property there and a large collection of old cars. Well, one afternoon while there they decided to blow up this old blue station wagon. Here is a before picture of the beauty.

Ok, so these are a little out of order but below is one of the doors that was blown off in the explosion and landed quite a ways away.

Here is the same blue station wagon after the explosion. You can hardly even tell that it was ever a car.

Here is a short clip of the explosion. You will see from the video that as soon as it ignites I kind of chickened out. It was not intentional. My natural instincts just kicked in and I ran for cover.

In this second video I turned my camera back on to try and capture some of what it looked like. It was pretty cool to watch. Small town fun is usually very entertaining.

"Special" Project

I have been working on a "Special" project that I can't say much about right now. However, this picture is so dang cute I can hardly stand it. This is my mother inlaw, Jerry. Isn't she just adorable? I just had to post this super cute picture of her.

Easter Gathering #3

All of us Turley's got together at Ray & Jerry's house for Easter dinner. The weather was so nice that we ate outside. It was a delicious dinner as always.
After we ate Jerry pulled out her basket of eggs which are numbered 1 thru 12. Inside each egg is a scripture along with some type of token that represents what the scripture is talking about. They all referred to the true meaning of Easter, the sacrifice that our Savior made for each of us. We all took a turn reading what was in our egg and discussing the Savior, the atonement and the resurrection. It was a perfect way to end a great weekend. I hope you were able to take some time to enjoy your family and to reflect on the life of Christ.

Easter gathering #2

We had a fun gathering on Saturday afternoon with cousins. We ate good food and had an easter egg hunt which is what Camdon is doing in the picture above.
Tatum looking for her eggs. She is now walking and it is sooooo cute!

The kids had fun making giant bubbles as you will see in the next few pictures.

Pretty cool, eh?

Jaden & Jaron really had a system going. This one was huge.

Ward Easter Gathering

We got together at the park for a ward gathering. It was cold and raining. The kids were soaked but didnt seem to mind a bit. They had a great time!
Tatum came which was a highlight of the morning. I took her out to stand in the rain. She was fascinated by the rain hitting the umbrella which is what we are watching.

Jaron was having to much fun getting everybody wet as you can see by his smile.

Aunt Kellie with Tatum. Notice her wet hair. Yah, she was one of Jaron's victims. Payback is sweet, better watch out Jaron.

Pack Meeting

Last Thursday was Pack Meeting and it was a Dinosaur theme. It was our turn to bring the refreshments. We made 'Dinosaur droppings'. We announced to all of the cub scouts that we had been to a museum where they had a dinosaur exhibit. While wandering around we noticed these droppings everywhere. We were able to collect quite a few and the workers there told us that apparently they are edible (something to do with them being organic). We left it up to the boys of course as to whether or not they were brave enough to eat them. It was great, they loved it! Oh and if you look close at this picture you can see our tile which is 90% done. It has been grouted and just needs the sealer put on now.

Thanks Mom

We had a yummy surprise tonight. My Mom showed up with some of her famous cinnamon rolls. When I say famous I really mean famous. She has actually had people call her at Christmas time and remind her not to forget them as this is what she does for friends, neighbors & family (lucky us). Jaron has actually asked for his very own pan the last two years for his Christmas gift. It might sound silly if you've never had one but trust us....they are that good. I didn't think about taking a picture until after we'd already dug in but here is the pan we got tonight. I know it's weird that we took from two different sides but hey, when you see the one that is calling to you that is what you have to go with.
Here is the one I chose and it was yummy!
Thanks Mom! We love you and your cinnamon rolls.

The tile is down

Richard started the tile last Thursday and it looks awesome! It is actually all down now but the grout needs to be finished. I am so glad that I am married to such a talented guy. Our good friends the Burr's stopped by Friday night and helped us with alot of it. They were awesome help!
Trevon checking out the tile, he likes it.

Isn't that sweet...a man and his dog. Molly loves Richard.
I will show a picture of the finished project when we get it all finished.

April Fool's Joke

We had fun on April Fools Day by playing a joke on our kids along with Richard's brother and wife on their kids. We had convinced them that they were all taking a surprise trip with their grandparents to California. Here they are pre-trip looking very excited!
Here is everyone after the news had been broken that this was a joke. As you can see Camdon was not pleased with the whole thing. We even pulled it on Grandma & Grandpa as they were very surprised to see their grandkids show up with bags, pillows and such ready to embark on a trip. They took it in good spirits and it made for a fun memory.
Thanks for being good sports.
